COVERS - Alec & Asher Rock the Cat
|
|
Spring 2002: Sometimes in college I'd take my guitar out into this park at night and play songs really loud, to let off some steam. One time this girl heard me and said, "Hey, you're pretty good. You should play a show at the Cat!" Meaning "The Cat In The Cream" which was a small music venue on campus. It turned out she was in charge of booking people for the space, so she gave me a slot. I put together a bunch of my favorite songs and my friend Asher Rapkin agreed to back me up on electric bass or electric guitar, depending on the song. We put up a bunch of flyers around campus and rehearsed three or four times. Luckily my genius engineer friend, Mark S. Williams was around, so he was able to record the whole thing. This is the only real "show" I've ever played. It was a lot of fun.
